Early Voting for the March 19, 2024 Presidential Primary Election in Chicago has been paused due to court order from the Appellate Court of Illinois. See attached order below.
Early Voting at the Board Supersite (191 N. Clark) and Board Offices (69 W. Washington, 6th Floor) will remain closed until further notice. Board staff are working to reopen these sites as soon as possible.
On February 5, 2024, the Appellate Court entered a Stay of Enforcement to keep the name of Ashonta C. Rice, Candidate for Judge of the Circuit Court (Vacancy of Sullivan), on the Democratic Party ballot.
Today, Friday, February 16, 2024, the Appellate Court lifted that Stay of Enforcement and confirmed the candidate’s name be removed from the ballot.
To comply with this court order, the Chicago Board of Elections must reprogram all Early Voting touchscreen machines to reflect this change.
Democratic Vote By Mail ballots for the March 19, 2024 Primary Election have not yet been mailed to Chicago voters. Those ballots will be mailed as soon as possible.
