Early Voting for the March 19, 2024 Presidential Primary Election in Chicago has been paused due to court order from the Appellate Court of Illinois. See attached order below.
Early Voting at the Board Supersite (191 N. Clark) and Board Offices (69 W. Washington, 6th Floor) will remain closed until further notice. Board staff are working to reopen these sites as soon as possible.
Early Voting for the March 19, 2024 Presidential Primary Election is now open in Downtown Chicago at the Chicago Board of Elections Supersite (191 N. Clark) and the Chicago Board of Elections Office (69 W. Washington, 6th Floor).
Due to some last-minute court activity and additional proofing required, Sample Ballots are not yet available on the Board's website.
The Board aims to have those Sample Ballots available for voters on Thursday, 2/15/24.
Once they are, they will be available on the Your Voter Information page, or voters may also access their Voter Information from the form on the homepage.
In Illinois, you do not need to register for a Political Party as part of your voter registration - unless you are currently on the Permanent Vote By Mail Roster.
For the upcoming Presidential Primary on March 19, 2024, you must request a specific party ballot when you go to vote: either in-person, early, or when requesting a Vote By Mail ballot.
The Chicago Board of Elections Office will be closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, January 15.
We will open for regular hours on Tuesday, January 16.
Starting January 1, 2024, 16-year-olds may pre-register to vote online through the Illinois State Board of Elections website. 16-year-olds will have their application held in abeyance until voting age.
To vote in the upcoming 2024 elections, you must be 17 years old on or before the date of the Primary Election (3/19/2024) and turn 18 on or before the date of the General Election (11/5/2024).
The Chicago Board of Elections Office will be closed for Christmas, Monday, December 25 and for New Years Day on Monday, January 1.
We will open for regular hours on Tuesday, December 26 and on Tuesday, January 2.
Voters within the City of Chicago may now apply to Vote By Mail for the March 19, 2024 Presidential Primary Election.
